Manager Overview: We are seeking a friendly and experienced cafe Manager to join our team and oversee the daily operations of our establishment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exceptional customer service, a strong background in the food and beverage industry, and the ability to lead a team effectively. We are looking for individuals who are driven and self motivated with a willingness to work in a team environment and maintain constant productive communication. ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON: Team driven/oriented Excellent communicator Motivated by professional excellence Evaluating product for expected quality standards Suggesting/Making process or condition changes to achieve expected quality standards Entrepreneurial Spirit Willingness/desire to take on added responsibility Willingness/desire to make/develop product suggestions to enhance menu offerings and increase sales Willingness/desire to learn financial processes needed to run the bakery/café business Willingness/desire to learn regulatory information/processes needed to run the bakery/café business Willingness/desire to learn general personnel management skills This is a full-time hourly position at the bakery/café on Main Street, Redwood City, CA. You will report directly to and work with Brian and Jenna, owners and managers, to manage the quality of both the space and the product we are providing to our customers. As well as managing our front of house team. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: At least 2 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, with previous managerial experience preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor A passion for hospitality and a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for customers Strong leadership abilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to deliver outstanding results Proficiency in inventory management and basic accounting principles including overseeing ordering and procurement of supplies, managing vendor relationships to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective purchasing Knowledge of health and safety regulations, with a commitment to upholding standards of cleanliness and sanitation Flexible schedule, including availability to work weekends and holidays as needed Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe, including opening and closing procedures, staff scheduling, and inventory management Ensure that cleanliness and maintenance of the restaurant are maintained Train, mentor, and supervise cafe staff, providing guidance and support to promote teamwork and professional growth Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently maintained, fostering a welcoming and enjoyable experience for every guest Collaborate with the ownership team to develop and execute marketing initiatives, utilizing social media and other channels to promote the cafe and engage with the local community ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Act with integrity and honesty to promote the culture, values and mission of The Baker Next Door, i.e., create kick-ass products and treat customers and fellow team members with the highest degree of respect and consideration. Ability to troubleshoot day-to-day issues with customers and FOH associates Ability to oversee, assign, and communicate to FOH associates their mandatory 10 and 30-minute breaks Ability to lead pre-shift meetings making sure that FOH associates are properly informed of new information, specials, and menu items Ability to float during your shift and delegate FOH associates in completing impactful tasks throughout the shift, including fulfilling their assigned roles Ability to stand working for long periods of time, up to 8 hrs Ability to lift/push/manipulate items weighing a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis PAY AND BENEFITS Competitive pay commensurate with work experience Opportunities for career advancement and professional development Health insurance benefits Paid Time Off Potential Bonuses Staff discounts on food and beverages A supportive and inclusive work environment The Baker Next Door is an equal opportunity employer, full stop.
